Mark Your Calendars—Joyland Jakarta ’24 Promises A Weekend of Music, Comedy & More!
Music lovers, are you ready?
Joyland Festival 2024 is fast approaching, and with its final lineup revealed, it’s shaping up to be an unforgettable weekend. Taking place from 22-24 November at GBK Baseball Stadium, Senayan, this three-day fest is jam-packed with music, art, and surprises for fans from all corners of the globe.
The big news? The Saturday night headliner will be none other than the indie dream team of Hyukoh and Sunset Rollercoaster. This South Korea-meets-Taiwan collaboration will be bringing the heat with hits from their joint album AAA, including fan-favourites like ‘Young Man,’ ‘Glue,’ and ‘Antenna.’
But that’s not all—they’ll also be diving into their individual catalogs.
So expect to hear Hyukoh’s iconic ‘TOMBOY’ and Sunset Rollercoaster’s dreamy ‘My Jinji.’ If you’ve been waiting to see this powerhouse duo live, Joyland is your only outdoor festival chance on their AAA tour.
Ferry Dermawan, Joyland’s programme director, couldn’t be more pumped. “We’re so excited to have two of Asia’s biggest indie rock acts perform together,” he said. “Their collaborative album has been a bold new journey for both bands, and fans are loving it!”
But Hyukoh and Sunset Rollercoaster are just the tip of the iceberg. The festival’s international appeal is also highlighted by Thai psych-rock group Khun Narin’s Electric Phin Band, Korean electronic trio Idiotape, and globe-trotting DJs like Cuban-French sensation Cami Layé Okún and UK’s roots reggae queen Danniella Dee.
Curated by Indonesia’s own White Shoes & The Couples Company (WSATCC), the Lily Pad Stage will feature these global gems alongside a slew of local talent like Bosborot, Asa Kusumah, and Jakarta’s rock titans, .FEAST, making their Joyland debut.
WSATCC, longtime Joyland collaborators, shared their excitement about the stage’s vibe: “We’ve handpicked acts that inspire us—artists we’ve met along the way who share the same energy and spirit. It’s going to be something special.”
Joyland isn’t just about the music though. The Shrooms Garden will host some of Indonesia’s best comedic talent with a fresh batch of stand-up acts, from Musdalifah Basri to Fico Fachriza, curated by Soleh Solihun.
For families, the expanded White Peacock area promises to keep everyone entertained with creative workshops, storytelling, and even a performance by a choir of HighScope elementary school students led by Apri Mela Prawidiyanti of WSATCC.
Meanwhile, film buffs won’t want to miss the outdoor cinema, Cinerillaz, curated by acclaimed director Joko Anwar, featuring short films fresh from the international festival circuit. And for those who love a good challenge, the Joyland Checkmate! chess tournament returns for another round of brain-busting fun.
With a buzzing marketplace of local food, goods, and the chance to snag exclusive festival merch at the Joyland Collection Launch on 9 November, this year’s festival offers something for everyone.
Tickets are selling fast, with three-day passes starting at Rp1,038,000 (≈RM280). Head over to joylandfest.com to grab yours, and follow @joylandfest on social media for all the latest updates.
