In a distressing incident in Seberang Jaya’s parking lot, a heartless act of animal cruelty was exposed early yesterday morning (23 January). A local restaurant employee, on the job at 3:00 a.m., stumbled upon a disturbing sight – eight cats left to fend for themselves inside zipped suitcases.

The abandoned cats, miraculously still alive, had been trapped for about six hours, left unattended since 8:30 p.m. the previous night. The cruel act was captured in a viral TikTok video by user @sheikharjans:

Inside the suitcases were four adult cats and four kittens, confined without access to food or water, surrounded by their own waste. The video showcasing this heartless act has gained immense online attention, accumulating over 1.6 million views at the time of writing.

The TikToker confirmed towards the end of the video that the cats would be under his care for the time being.

While most netizens believe that the cats were abandoned by an owner, online discussions opened up the possibility that they had been snatched and discarded by a disgruntled neighbour, since some of them were collared.

The culprit and their intentions have yet to be uncovered, but either way, this cruelty needs to stop.
