The Nextmen ft. Dynamite MC: Round Of Applause
Round Of Applause is the 2nd single to be taken from The Nextmen’s 4th studio album Join The Dots. Following up the smash 1st single that was The Lion’s Den featuring Ms Dynamite and Andy Cato of Groove Armada), ‘Round Of Applause’ is The Nextmen doing what they do best: top drawer, laid back hip hop featuring their long time collaborator Dynamite MC throwing down over the top of a classic piece of The Meters’ inspired funk.
In recent months, The Nextmen have played at Glastonbury, The Big Chill, Lovebox, Naasfest, Fabric Live and the Notting Hill Carnival as well as launching their new album at Cargo. Their album has made Album of the Month in iDJ, DJ and RWD magazine, they’ve been interviewed by Zane Lowe on Radio 1 and won Steve Lamacq’s Roundtable as well as being played by the likes of Annie Mac, Mistajam, Toddla T & Ras Kwame.
The men behind The Nextmen name are Brad Baloo (aka Brad Ellis) and Dom Search (Dominic Betmead). Originally from Cambridge and now residing in North London, the pair 1st joined forces to create a remix for London Posse and since then have worked with Public Enemy, Ty, Blackalicious, Sway, Kidz In The Hall, The Pharcyde and others. They’ve released 3 studio albums, a reggae compilation and some fantastic mixtapes, undertaken numerous remixes and played all around the world several times over.
Round Of Applause is taken from The Nextmen’s cracking new album, Join The Dots, the duo’s 4th studio outing. Inspired by The Nextmen’s wide-ranging DJ sets and love of a broad range of music, Join The Dots includes elements of hip-hop, soul, dancehall, dubstep, breakbeats, ambient and pop styles.
The album has recieved massive support. iDJ magazine has said: “Its not big, it’s freaking HUGE!” RWD mag called it “Another banging album. Barely a foot nor beat put wrong.” As well as Dynamite MC, Brad and Dom have personally recruited various guest vocalists to join the party including Mercury Award winner Ms Dynamite, Andy Cato of Groove Armada, Betty Steeles, Lindsay West, Kivanc and Roots Manuva endorsed Banana Clan man
