Up your knowledge – of beer and British pub grub
Despite the image the name The Library might conjure, it isn’t some dusty font of knowledge where cranky administrators shush you at every opportunity. A gastropub, The Library is located across 2 floors where Mystique once stood at the previously named Damansara Cineleisure Mall. Things have changed since then. For a start the mall isn’t called that anymore – it’s called e@Curve– and unlike its predecessor, The Library seems to have made full use of the sprawling space adding balconies and alfresco areas even. Best of all, for those who harbour bookworm fantasies, the waitresses are dressed accordingly right down to their geek glasses. The menu is a bibliography of good but simple food where rustic French and Italian can sit side by side with traditional Malay and English. A hit with the area’s young urban professionals, The Library purports to have city’s biggest collection of beers and an A to Z catalog of cocktails. Top 40 hits and tracks from the 90s gives The Library its pub feel and besides pool tables, there’s a stage for live performances, open mic nights and pub quizzes. See, who said beers and learning can’t mix?
Clientele What with it being thematic, there’s a pretty strong indication this place will go down with young urban professionals (yuppies-argh!). Thanks to some terrific drinks promos, The Library will be probably also a hit with everyone else.
Drinks Impressive. The Library offers the biggest collection of beers from around the “my goodness, that’s a big pint of beer!” world with Stella Artois, Hoegaarden and Carlsberg on tap, and the largest selection of single malt whiskeys and cocktails. Show off.
Eats The top 3 bestsellers as mentioned by the chef himself, because the chef always knows best. The popularity prize goes to the Bangers and Mash dish of Cumberland Sausages (RM24.90), Chicken Liver Pate & Olive and Anchovies Tapenade (RM18) takes 2nd and the 3rd spot goes to Welsh Rarebit – not rabbit but dark beef and cheese on toast (RM15). Droolworthy indeed, old chap.Â
