Local SME Creates Mismis, An All-Natural Chocolate Flavoured Toothpaste

Who would’ve thought chocolate or also known as cacao, could be a useful ingredient in oral care? Banking on our nation’s sweet tooth, local SME, NFA Technologies Sdn Bhd worked with the Malaysian Cocoa Board (MCB) to research and develop a cacao-extract toothpaste called Mismis. 

NFA Technologies produces mainly natural based oral care products to raise consumer awareness on the many benefits of herbal ingredients.

Their brand Mismis has an array of oral care products ranging from kids toothpaste to breath fresheners and travel kits. We reckon the cacao kids toothpaste would be a hit for parents looking to encourage their kids to brush their teeth more often! 

 

Contrary to popular belief, cacao can be an advantageous ingredient in protecting teeth from bacterial activities. Teeth damage by chocolate is due to the high sugar content and not the cacao. According to Mismis’s website, “the more the cocoa component, however, the more advantageous it is”.

NFA Technologies’s oral care line will be distributed to supermarkets and pharmacies across Malaysia. 

The enterprise’s operations director, Faizul Jasemi told Bernama that it’s been “hard to compete with established oral care products that are customer favourites, so we participated in a lot of carnivals and campaigns to make our product known.”

Sales carnivals like the Buy Malaysian Products Campaign (KBBM) by the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) has been a helpful platform for Mismis to promote their products. 

“A sales carnival is a good way for you to introduce your product to people and promote its qualities which are on par with the other brands,” he said.
