M’sian Man Arrested For Brandishing Toy Gun at E-Hailing Driver Who Honked at Him
Dealing with other drivers on the road can be stressful, but this man’s scare tactic took it to far. According to NST, a 32-year-old driver reacted to a honk by holding up what looked like a gun towards another driver, on Monday (1 March).
Upon investigating by police, the “gun” turned out to be a fake toy gun.
In the 3.15pm incident at Jalan PJU10/3, Damansara Damai in Petaling Jaya, the other driver, who does e-hailing services, was on her way to pick up passengers.
“The woman, who was driving a Perodua Aruz, honked at the car in front of her as the driver was driving in an indecisive manner. In response, the male driver showed the woman an object that looked like a gun through the car window,” said district police chief Assistant Commissioner Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal.
Following the incident, she made a police report and the man was later arrested at a house in Bandar Sri Damansara at 12.05am on Wednesday (3 March) night.
Nik Ezanee said after collecting intelligence, a police team raided the man’s house and found a black toy gun including a magazine of bullets on the suspect.
“When the suspect was being interrogated, he admitted that he showed the gun (to the woman) because he was angry at the woman for honking at him,” he said.
The officer also mentioned that the suspect was unemployed and had prior records related to drugs. The case had been classified under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation.
