SPM Candidates’ “Celebration” on the Road Ends with Police Summons
We all remember the excitement when SPM was over ’cause it basically meant that school was over! Most of us had celebrations with our friends, but unfortunately for these 63 students, their celebration ended with police summons for breaking the SOP.
All of the 18-year-olds were fined under the Special Op (which targeted exhaust modification and monitoring of SPM candidates) after being found ‘partying’ at Jalan Pantai Puteri and Dataran Klebang. The incident happened on Wednesday at 3pm.
The head of the state Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department, Superintendent Hasan Basri Yahya said a total of 92 summonses were issued for various offences under Pol 257.
According to him, out of the total, 21 cases were found not displaying the P and L licenses, 17 cases involved imperfect accessories and six exhaust modification cases. 14 motorcycles were also confiscated by the police.
“An incident like this happened in 2019 and we were ready to monitor the target location before tracking down the group of students involved,” he told Sinar Harian.
Commenting further, Hasan Basri said five summonses were issued for structural or equipment modification, not wearing a helmet and no registration number.
“Three more summonses were issued for each offence with no license, unregistered plate number, no insurance coverage, brakes not working, fancy plate number, no side mirrors and expired Motor Vehicle License (LKM),” he said.
In the same operation, three summonses were issued to motorcyclists aged 16 and below, and six summonses to 17-year-old passengers, apart from each offence for allowing passengers without a licence.
