VIDEO: Drunken ‘Datuk’ & Accomplice Who Assaulted A Couple At A Restaurant Have Now Been Arrested
A ‘Datuk’ and his accomplice, who were both seen assaulting a couple at a steamboat restaurant located in Petaling Jaya, Selangor have been arrested by police.
In a series of videos that went viral on Facebook, the victim was seen confronting the Datuk and asking him to lower his voice as to not disturb other customers at TST Hotpot located in Tropicana Avenue, PJ.
Angered, the so-called Datuk then left the premises to make a phone call. Shortly after, two men in black t-shirts entered the restaurant and asked the workers to point out who had asked the Datuk to keep his voice down.
Once the men identified the couple, they began physically assaulting them. In the video, it shows the couple being slapped multiple times by one of the men in black.
Selangor Criminal Investigations Department chief Senior Asst Comm Fadzil Ahmat said the ‘Datuk’, 42, and his accomplice, 39, were taken into custody today.
“The police will obtain a remand order for the two suspects to facilitate investigations. We will also conduct a background check to see if they are involved in underworld activities,” he said.
Police said the case is being investigated under Article 323 and Article 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation and voluntarily causing grievous hurt.
If convicted, the suspects could face jail time up to one and seven years for each offence respectively.
