“Huh?! Babi?!”, calm down everyone! In honour of 2019 being the Year of the Pig according to the Chinese zodiac, Vans teamed up with Purlicue to celebrate the upcoming Chinese Lunar New Year by unveiling an exclusive series of sneakers. Although these pink animals are stereotyped as always sleeping, eating and getting fat, what the pig represents for the new year is totally the opposite.

According to The Chinese Zodiac, 2019 will be a great year to make money, and a good year to invest! It’ll also be full of joy, a year of friendship and love for all the zodiac signs. Sounds like a win-win year, no?So let’s put aside any bias we have for this babe and revel in the auspiciousness! And what better way to uplift the spirit of that then with the Pig Collection that showcases Vans’ timeless aesthetic with Purlicue’s renowned philosophy of design, emphasising “Laid Back, Not Lazy” as an authentic attitude of life and creative self-expression.

The collection uses an impactful mix of colours with an exaggerated “Off The Wall” heel tab, wide cotton shoelaces and greets the pavement with “The Fat Year” on Vans’ iconic vulcanised waffle outsoles.

There are two models in this collection. The Era features canvas and suede uppers that will be offered in two colourways including pink over black outsoles and white over red, while a magnified interchangeable side-stripe can be found on the black or festive red Sk8-Hi.
