Bernard Chandran Resurrects the Tutu In His New SS18 Collection
We wouldn’t expect anything less from Malaysia’s King Of Fashion, Bernard Chandran, for his new SS18 collection, which draws inspiration from a Tutu as the main creative muse for this collection.
Bernard Chandran took the classic Tutu that he grew up admiring to a whole new level by revamping it into a fashion of retro-meets-luxury collection. In his new SS18 collection, the classic 80s tutu has been given an update with fresh designs and different experiments on the fabric that kept it relevant and unique to the current modern styles of today.
He played around with the silhouettes to give it an illusion of an easy shift dress whilst keeping a grip on the curves that is held by a hidden form fitted corset – accentuating the shapes around the body. For a less extravagant look, he maintained the essence of luxury and style by designing a pair box-pleated skinny pants and shorts, paired with boxy shoulders, blouses and jackets.
Throughout the entire collection, you can see the touch of playfulness and youthfulness through embellishments, sequins, crystals, and other details decorated around the pieces; along with the pop of colours that are laid in with white, black, red, and gray, oozing a fresh pop chic look.
Always giving attention to detail, the cuts and layerings of the SS18 collection are made out of several mixes of cotton, can-can nettings, leather cutwork and trimmings, lace layering and tassels, which celebrates the simple cuts and emphasises on the superior craftsmanship, tipping of its luxurious look.
