Find Out About Malaysia’s First Railway and More with The MHHC
The Malaysian Heritage and History Club have always aimed to enrich Malaysians with an objective, truthful, and balanced account of our country’s long history, and they’re bringing this goal to Kuala Lumpur on 15 July. Head on down to the Heritage of Malaysia Trust from 4pm to 6pm to listen to a scintillating talk on Malaysia’s first railway, the Johore Wooden Railway – an ambitious project overseen by Maharaja Abu Bakar (the then ruler of Johor) under the rule of the British Empire in 1869. Speaker Mahen Bala aims to share new information about the proposed 18-mile project (before it all went awry) in an engaging and kid-friendly way, while also providing listeners with an overview on the Maharaja’s other works and his role as the founder of modern Johor. Admission is free, and you’ll get to learn some brilliant trivia that you could break out at a boring family dinner, so what reason do you have not to attend?
