All Thieves: Only Of You (Larkin’ Around)
Just as JUICE‘s New Music issue lands hot off the press and on our desks like a steaming potato (hold the butter, load on the tuna), in comes this tight single from what promises to be 2009’s breakout dance outfit. All Thieves is the love-child of Faithless producer Rollo, Mark Bates, Bailey Tzuke and One Eskimo’s Kristian Leontiou. And if you have been feeling disillusioned with the lack of feeling in the current EDM scene, All Thieves’ disco-fried, genre-busting single ‘Only Of You’ has promised to stir some emotions down there. And by “down there” we mean your dancing feet.
All Thieves debut ‘Only Of You’ has been making serious waves, popping up in the Buzz Charts. It should also get your blood pumping in anticipation of All Thieves’ impending album drop. Featuring the gorgeous vocals of One Eskimo frontman Kristian Leontiou, JUICE‘s fave mix comes from Fred Falke. He slips into full-on house mode for the vocal mix, choosing to throw the track directly into the middle of the dancefloor like only he can. With influences of disco and early house, it’s like a Saturday Night Fever and Hercules & Love Affair face off with New Order-esque as the ref.
Tom Neville provides a much darker, slower number. Epic slabs of sound are stacked atop glitchy lo-fi drums. Loaded with stabbing synths and a funked-up bass, the stripped back simplicity and key changes will transport you to that dark and dirty dancefloor. Continuing with the dance floor assault, Filthy Fiction steps up to the plate. Techy to the core, with a driving bassline, a jackin’ high hat, this is a peak-time monster. Keep your ear out!
‘Only Of You’ is All Thieves’ debut single. It’s out June 15 and is taken from the debut album We Are which is coming out soon on Larkin’ Around Records.
