VIDEO: Stephen Law: “Why is belief in a good God much more reasonable than belief in an evil God?”
In this short animated by Steph Hope for the Centre For Inquiry UK, philosopher Stephen Law questions why human beings are inclined to believe that God can only be a purely gracious being. In his narration, Stephen explains that it’s not blasphemous to consider our creator as being evil — a characterisation Stephen feels is apt for God since there’s so much suffering in the world (i.e. wars, diseases, natural disasters), and one that should not be dismissed so quickly since the existence of a ‘good God’ is difficult to prove as well. Who’s to say an evil one cannot exist?
