Le Pont Boulangerie Made Obama Go Ooh-la-la!
Meaning ‘The Bridge’ in French, Le Pont is a French European boulangerie-patisserie-cafe that strives to connect cultures, link great food with memorable moments, and showcase culinary craftsmanship and gastronomic creativity. That’s no short statement but with a crack team of culinary masterminds behind its menu, which includes pastries & desserts, breads, specialty coffee and craft drinks, and café-inspired mains, you’d want to bring your family or date here for the holidays or Valentine’s Day for sure.
Under the watchful eye of Chef de Patisserie Soong Chee Heen – who has served David Beckham, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Barack Obama, and various Royalties – Le Pont’s pastry and desserts team crafts offerings that both engage the eyes and enthral the taste buds. The use of novel recipes, ingredients, and techniques such as molecular gastronomy pays tribute to the flair of French desserts, thus giving Malaysian diners a mélange of new sensations unique from anything else found in the market. Try the Chocolat Coulant, Reconstructed Cheese Cake, Le Pont Waffles or Passion Panna Cotta if you don’t believe us.
For Pastry Sous Chef Kazumi Honda, baking has been a lifelong passion that started in a gourmet school in her homeland. Her skilful approach to bread-making opened doors for her to serve in Hotel Hilton Fukuoka and Gontran Cherrier Fukuoka, where she had the opportunity to bake for the famous Kabuki actor Tamasaburo Bando. Honda’s favourite bread is the Yama Shoku, a specialty loaf baked according to a recipe by Japanese champion baker Eiji Izutsu. The loaf is baked with Japanese flour, yogurt, and whipping cream, resulting in a creamier and softer texture with a crispy outer crust.
Chef de Cuisine Chef Andrew is a veteran of the culinary industry with over 22 years of international experience in hotels and restaurants such as Shangri-La, Legend, Crystal Crown, and Xenri. As a testament to his wide experience and proficiency, Andrew has been bestowed with numerous accolades such as winning a Hong Kong culinary competition and five awards in the Malaysian International Gourmet Festival. Here at Le Pont, Andrew desires to elevate the local food scene by incorporating fine dining cooking methods into a more casual and contemporary setting with his signatures Sous Vide Duck Breast, Le Pont Lamb Shank, and Smoked Mussel Pot.
