What Went Down: Heineken Malaysia Berhad Launch @ Bukit Kiara Equestrian & Country Resort
On a humid Wednesday night, over 1,000 guests were invited to join a mystery celebration with Heineken at the same equestrian park that hosted performers such as Korn, N.E.R.D, Incubus, and The Roots yonks ago (will Sunburst ever be revived? #StillNotOverIt). After reminiscing the sweaty times we spent at that venue, we were even more stoked to see what Heineken had planned for the night; the beer brand is known for spoiling its most loyal customers (aka everyone who works here), surely this night wasn’t going to be a casual drinking night out — and indeed it wasn’t, the event was to mark Guinness Anchor Berhad rebranding as Heineken Malaysia Berhad, as it has officially joined the global Heineken Group.
Upon entering a smaller subsection of the premises, each guest received their chilled beers from the open bar, after which Managing Director Hans Essaadi said he had an important announcement to make. “Today is a celebration of our new identity and a promise of many more great moments to come,” he proudly announced. “As we open up to a world of new business possibilities by becoming part of the world’s most international brewer, we are also opening up a world of exhilarating experiences to our partners and consumers. We are delighted to share this joyous occasion with our partners and exclusive guests — thank you for your continuing support. Tonight, we take a step into the world of Heineken. This is what you can expect from us moving forward — great parties, great drinks, and great moments. In essence, more reasons to celebrate.”
Immediately after the promise of “great parties, great drinks, and great moments,” the newly anointed Heineken Malaysia Berhad made good of their pledge; hidden doors opened, which led to an even bigger event space where Heineken’s resident DJs, Goldfish and Blink, BATE, and Hulkas had been hiding behind all this while. The night progressed into an unexpected rave – with a stage design that easily dwarfed their previous ones in grandeur. Even though it was Heineken’s night and it really should’ve been us spoiling them, they took care of us to the best of their capabilities; there were open bars, sick LED lighting, and when guests left at the end of the night, they were each given a bottle of Evian — hydration is important, people.
Once again, we’d like to congratulate Heineken for hitting this milestone; it’s only going to be better from here onwards, guys! Until the next party.
Heineken Malaysia Berhad celebrated its launch on Wednesday 27 April ’16 at Bukit Kiara Equestrian & Country Resort.
