Following Empress Of’s collaboration with Darkstar on ‘Reformer’, the musician dropped an unreleased song from her album Me called ‘Woman is a Word’ with an apt cover art that says as much about the song title. “I wrote it as a reaction to feeling like the word ‘woman’ put me in a box of things I was capable to do,” she said as she made the announcement of the release.  The track is minimal with soft synths in the background along with some repetitive metallic ringing that follows the refrain “I’m only a woman if woman is a word.”
