VIDEO: Neon Indian’s ‘Slumlord Rising’
A short story about a night out gone wrong, but we should’ve heard the sirens the second the lead character had a suitcase handcuffed to his wrist. It didn’t work out in Snatch and it’s not going to work out here. The characters in this video for Neon Indian’s seminal single ‘Slumlord Rising’ deserve a little recognition too — like the titular ‘Slumlord’, who reminded us an awful lot of G.I Joe’s Storm Shadow, and the human pet because how often does one see that in a music video? Please don’t air your dirty laundry here. Just as Slumlord’s identity is about to be revealed, the music stops — it’s abrupt and incomplete, which means we’ll have to wait for another video to understand who the masked man really is.
