Leo Gets TAG-ed
We’re not usually one for costly watches unless they look like they came off the set of Star Trek or Pharell’s wrist, but we thought this news was worth sharing. Our favourite green man, Leonardo DiCaprio has teamed up with Swiss sports-inspired luxury watch brand Tag Heuer in support of 2 of the world’s most important environmental charities: the Natural Resources Defense Council and Green Cross International.
Part of the Tag Heuer Knights of Time campaign which celebrates the life achievements of its ambassadors, the 3-year agreement will see royalties generated from the deal go to the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) and Green Cross International. In addition, a multi-million dollar commitment from Leo will go to support environmental charities.
You can debate all you like about corporations trying to cash in on the environmental crisis but when money goes back to the ’cause and not solely the corporation, JUICE is alright with that. Getting large conglomerates in on the road to change can only be a good thing; this is something Leo echoes too: “It is a great day when a company as respected as Tag Heuer explores a different way to do business – selling products and giving back at the same time.”
The watch should also come in handy. Leo co-wrote, co-produced and narrated The 11th Hour, the 2007 documentary that explores the perilous state of the planet, and the means by which we can change our course.
