Budget friendly KL escape in the city
It’s not like we’d turn down an offer to pad up in some swank 5-star luxury hotel room but the appeal of chain hotels with identikit furnishings and functional politeness are long over. These days people like us are looking for something small, charming, and most of all unique. Oh, and lest we forget, affordable. 41 Berangan is gorgeous guest house located off the buzz of Changkat Bukit Bintang and already a choice pick for budget conscious guests both local and international. Named after it’s location, which aptly translates as ‘day dreaming’, this is the perfect resthouse for those looking for a cheap, modern and centrally located escape. To heck with the stereotypical hotels!

Who Owned by a former marketeer, Zulkifli Mat Jusoh finally accomplished his dream of opening his own hotel. The project took a mere 3 months to get off the ground and was opened in March this year 2009. Zul’s initial plan was to open a small luxury boutique in KL, but the economic downturn forced a change of tact – lucky for all us budget conscious travelers!

What 41 Berangan is a 11-room guesthouse. All rooms are air-conditioned and it’s appeal isn’t just its comfort, it is also clean. Hot water is available and the toilets are spotless. Coffee, tea and a toast breakfast are part of the room package. Yay!

Where In the centre of KL’s Golden Triangle, just off Changkat Bukit Bintang , 41 Berangan makes an ideal base from which to shop and party. Jalan Alor’s myriad local food stalls are just a walk away, Sungei Wang, Starhill, Lot 10, Pavillion and Bukit Bintang Shopping Malls are right up the road and then there’s the fantastic variety of restaurants and bars right behind you on Changkat Bukit Bintang. We wouldn’t discount it as a great little getaway for KLites either.

Extra PCs and internet access is available via broadband. Hair dryers, irons, sewing kits and band-aids upon request. Some rooms have their own TVs for those who just can’t live without their Astro. Laundry is extra, but the service is like any other hotel available to you. Neat!

Price Twin standard room RM80, double standard room RM100, courtyard room RM130, superior room RM140 and a deluxe room RM200. Not too shabby at all.
