After realising the benefits of being a content creator on social media, 17-year-old TikToker Alicia Breuer is leaving university to pursue a career as a full-time influencer where she earns £10,000 (RM58,596) a day.

Alicia went viral after she lip-synced to Katy Perry’s ‘Teenage Dream’ and has since gained over 750,000 followers on TikTok and another 200,000 on Instagram.

She earns money by promoting products of multiple renowned fashion and cosmetic brands such as Lancome, Benefit, Fenty Beauty and Bershka on her platforms.

Now, Alicia has discarded her plans to pursue a psychology degree as she has gained steady income these past few months.

She first started TikTok in June last year during the first Covid-19 lockdown in the UK because she was feeling bored.

“If I’m now able to make £10,000 some days, I’m going to focus on my videos – there’s no point going to university.”

She was spotted by a leading digital talent manager right after she started to make money and now, she makes more than her parents in their 50s.

Alicia also shared that those close to her have been supportive of her TikTok career especially her mother who still would advice her to do school work as many mothers would.

“I wouldn’t say she’s (her mum) hopeless on social media… she has downloaded my videos and gives them a look. She is still always on my back to do my school work. There’s always time for other things, though,” she said.

“My two really close friends have also been really supportive, whereas I’d probably be jealous if the roles were reversed.”
