LISTEN: On Rap Debut ‘Helly Kelly’, R’n’b Doyenne Zamaera Got Bars

Now unattached to a record label, Zamaera drops her r’n’b aspiration momentarily for a showcase of ‘tude-filled bars – on new song ‘Helly Kelly (prod. Kidd Santhe)’ at least. Sounding and looking more inspired by Lady Leshurr’s ‘Queen’s Speech’ series than her American counterparts, the track is bad bitch braggadocio dialled all the way up, with Zamaera proving that she’s as much of a doyenne rapping on the mic as she is singing. Just listen to some of her lines – from “You said that you was workin’/ I saw your Instastory, 4am and you still twerkin’,” to “You’re like Taylor Swift… assless,” so inspired they are that we could paste almost the entirety of the lyrics here.

Zamaera is set to perform at the launch night of The Bee’s Femme BAM, more info here.
