Vivo’s New Technological Features Are A Cut Above The Rest

This year’s Mobile World Conference at Shanghai held more than a few surprises for the tech world. Among them was the announcement that Vivo has pioneered a new fingerprint scanning solution – unlike the home buttons on most other smartphones today, the new Vivo fingerprint scanner is invisible.

That’s right, you didn’t read anything wrong. It looks like the next Vivo phones will come with a larger screen and seemingly no home button. All you have to do to unlock the phone is to place your finger on the central space at the bottom of the screen for instant access to all your files and apps. Check out the video below for a more in-depth look at how this new, cutting-edge ultrasonic technology works.

And that’s not all. The leading smartphone brand have also introduced two extra features – the first of which is a Digital Signal Processing (DSP) Photography Solution targeted for backlighting and night scene photography. In day to day mobile phone photography, users might experience various complicated lighting conditions. The Vivo DSP Photography Solution is designed to help users take pictures with high quality and accurate exposure, and adjust the brightness of the image to make it better correspond to what is actually seen by the human eye. The processing speed of photographs has also been greatly enhanced, to avoid that annoying lag in between taking photos.

Moreover, this DSP photography solution allows users to take multiple pictures in RAW format (which highly increases the quality of photos) when shooting in complicated lighting conditions. The DSP chip will then automatically process and compose a single RAW picture, which is then exported to JPG format to optimise the quality of the final image. Apart from a higher processing speed, the DSP Photography Solution also reduces shot noise for night scene photography to a large extent, and further improves on Vivo’s Face Beauty Mode for the ideal selfies in all lighting conditions.

Another feature that Vivo has also newly introduced is a customised DAC decoder chip and headphone amplifier technology, for all your audiophile needs. As one of the leading names in high fidelity audio for smartphones, Vivo established its position in the mobile phone audio industry through generations of products, and even promoted the development of the audio chip industry. Now, Vivo’s new audio solution is focused on perfecting details via a customised DAC decoding chip and a headphone amplifier, which improves SNR, dynamic range, distortion, and output power. It surpasses the high-quality audio experience of the Xplay6 with an SNR of 122dB, dynamic range of 120dB, distortion of -111dB, and output power of 2.2VRms. This has twice the output amplitude as ordinary phones, and in subjective acoustic evaluations it has shown better resolution and thrust, rich details, and strong spatial perception. Moreover, the headphone amplifier utilises new processing technology to improve power efficiency, as well as the overall audio experience. If you’re serious about your music and audio quality, the new Vivo range is most definitely for you.

“Major brands have been taking actions to take an advantageous position in the market these years. From process innovations in smartphone casings to dual lenses for both front and back cameras, and finally design breakthroughs in appearance, the smartphone industry has entered a new round of technological competition,” says Alex Feng, senior vice president of Vivo. “We are set to increase our technology capabilities and bring better products to our consumers. That is how we keep our brand’s competitiveness in the long run.”
