While Syndicate SG’s co-founder and art director Kiat doesn’t have a lot of full-length records in his oeuvre, when he does release one – such as with debut LP The Inner Galaxy (2012) – praises would come from as far as The Guardian UK. Fast forward four years later, the Singaporean veteran is prepping for sophomore album Ataraxia (out Friday 17 June ’16), a nine-tracker that features the island-state’s best – Cherry Chan, Mean, Intriguant, to name a few – alongside London’s bass scene luminary Blue Daisy. Kiat’s dubby roots are still very much detectable on the new record, but as can be heard on single ‘Pulse (feat. Jason Tan & Cherry Chan)’, it’s taken an ambient, sound art approach to the composition – no hi-hats and 808 drum patterns to be found here, folks. As per usual, Syndicate’s resident visual artist Brandon Tay is on duty for the music video, creating pixel-modulated visuals that are as sparse as the music.

Ataraxia is set for a Friday 17 June ’16 release, available via all major stores and streaming services.
