Hilltop chilling
Remember when Bangsar was the place to barhop and party? 10 years on, this enclave is making a second play for that honour, albeit further up the road. As the Jalan Telawi Street area continues to be flocked to by fashionistas in search of fashion finds, Bangsar Shopping Complex’s (BSC) recent renovation has turned it into a magnet for some of the city’s most promising eateries and bars.
Twentyone Tables + Terrace, located on the 3rd floor is just one of them, but is already positioning itself as a top contender. Much larger than its Changkat Bukit Bintang sister, it possesses a kickass view of the city’s skyline. Like the alfresco George And The Dragon, WIP and The Press Room on BSC’s ground floor, Twentyone T+T’s open air concept ensures that it stays cool and breezy all night long, and along with a dominating water feature, provides this bar and restaurant with its chilled out ambience. The key difference between the two properties is that Twentyone Changkat is where you’ll go for a wild night out, and BSC is where you’d want to gather your friends for good conversation over dinner, drinks and house music.
Clientele Young urban professionals looking for some quiet sophistication.
Music policy Downtempo house fit for those luscious cocktails you’re holding. Resident DJs keep the tiny dance floor heavily populated from Wednesday through Saturday much later in the evenings. Ladies night or Elevate is on Wednesday but look out for events like Lipstick Gossip and Fash Fab from January onwards.
Drinks With Melbourne mixologist Dean Reardon on the case the cocktails here are reason enough to go. Their wildly popular Popcorntini tastes so delicious you’d swear it should be sold at cinemas, while their T+ T Martini may go down like a whisper but packs a punch. Both are RM24.
Happy hour 5pm to 8pm daily on wines, draught beers and selected cocktails. Ask your waiter for details.
Food If the lack of cod swimming in the world’s oceans doesn’t trouble you (it should), the chef recommends the Black Cod with foam in mushroom broth, enoki and shinmeji mushrooms (RM58) or the Sirloin with crusted potato dauphine with grazed shredded vegetables and bordelaise jus (RM66).
Open 12nn until late everyday.
Parking Pretty steep at RM1.60 per hour.
