RIUH Kickstarts Its Monthly Creative Platform with a Pre-Launch Weekend

Date Sat, 19th Aug '17 - Sun, 20th Aug '17
Time 11am - 11pm
Venue APW (Art Printing Works), Bangsar

Satisfy your cravings for all things art related with RIUH (pronounced “ri-yoh”), an event that will take up one weekend every month to offer you different creative offerings. With its confluence of creative workshops, bazaars, and live music in a singular event, this initiative exists to provide a platform for creators to flaunt, and the public to indulge. Think not just pop-up stores and markets, but a place where live music, creative classes, screenings and art exhibitions meet.

To kickstart this initiative, the team behind RIUH is inviting the community to their pre-launch weekend at none other than APW at Jalan Riong, Bangsar – a place that has become the hub for today’s hottest events. Self-described as a “creative campus,” APW will be RIUH’s venue for the year as they will shift locations in 2018. Give RIUH a warm welcome by spending your weekend at their pre-launch, you might find yourself some goods by Hello Deer and Baju by Shahrina, or learn a thing or two from the creative workshops like Visual Art by Shahrina Shahrin, String Art by Biji Biji Initiative, and Flower Workshop for Children by Flora by Liz. Other brands that will be featured during the weekend also include Sereni and Shentel, Thirty3Eleven, Shals.KL, A Soap Affair, Real Material, Ana Abu, Mowgli, Baked KL, and many more, just head to @riuhinthecity for the full list.

Aside from that, expect live performances by Russell Curtis and other buskers, along with vinyl-only DJ sets by Disko Santan. There will also be video screenings, which will be announced soon. But if food is the only thing that’s on your mind, RIUH is having an exclusive collaboration with Agak-Agak – a modern Malaysian restaurant that serves local food with an edge. Take a bite of their limitedly released Nasi Lemak Burger that’s served with real sambal, ayam rempah, and yes, actual nasi lemak (what’s Nasi Lemak without the nasi right?) but don’t come wearing white, cause it’s gonna be real messy.

Head to @riuhinthecity for the full list of brands and follow RIUH on all their social media platforms (official website and Facebook) to be updated on the pre-launch’s guests and special appearances.
