Soda got a brand new start in 2001 when it found 3 new owners in 2011. Soon after the Dutch brand’s successful relaunch through its SS02 collection, 3 new lines were born, Maison Scotch for women and the younger lines Shrunk and R’Belle. Just this year, Scotch & Soda introduced Amsterdams Blauw, their new denim line that was named after a paint colour that was used to paint Dutch porcelain between 1500 to 1750. The Amsterdamn Blauw colour was created by mixing indigo from China and Japan with an oil based paint and the colour is still used on street signs and house number plates in Amsterdam til this day.
Scotch & Soda’s new denim line draws inspiration from America and Japan’s denim aesthetics. Scotch & Soda is well known for their attention to expressing creativity to the littlest detail. For example, the Amsterdam Blaus denim features the “fly” button – a fly that’s literlly embossed onto a button and brand’s signature lucky coin pocket where you will find a lucky coin inside for its new owner. Take a look at Scotch & Soda’s sneak peek video of their upcoming SS12 collection titled ‘The Longest Breakfast’ featuring model Christian Göran.
