Ingenious ideas are often always the simplest, the kind that make you go “Ah! So simple why didn’t I think of that?!” – unless say, if we were talking about the Large Hadron Collider (CERN) of course. One good example of a simple idea turned into a great one would be from the 3 local amigos (see above) of t-shirt brand Pestle & Mortar.
Their debut collection ‘Kuala Lumpur Through OUR Eyes’ takes things and places we see everyday that make us see our city and our culture in a different light. Says Pestle & Mortar “These designs contain in their essence our everyday life and culture as Malaysians, presenting to you the good, the bad and the ugly, of our own city. Things that may sometimes not be the most popular or likened but at the end of the day remains a distinct fingerprint of our culture.”
Their debut collection consists of 5 designs, each thoughtfully crafted and hand printed so no 2 pieces are alike. Aptly titled ‘Ah Long’, ‘Telor Mata’, ‘Lorong Haji Tai?’, ‘Call Man’ and ‘Flats’, each design comes with a tee colour choice of either black, grey or white. Our personal favourite is ‘Telor Mata’. Makes us crave for Bestari Indo Mi Goreng. Mmmm…
