In continuation with the 50th birthday celebration of the Italian stallion Gufram, comes the special limited edition of the iconic Gufram Cactus in collaboration with Paul Smith.

The ironic totem, designed by Drocco and Mello in 1972, which has embodied the typical grit, determination, fantasy, and humour of the ’70s, receives a psychedelic treatment with the blending of bright hues that characterise the use of colour by Paul Smith.

A fan of Gufram’s works since the artist’s exhibition Italy: The New Domestic Landscape in 1972 at the New York’s Museum of Modern Art, fashion designer Paul Smith’s affection for the products has never waned over the years. The strength of the project lies in the fusion between two different worlds; the designer not only cover a cactus with colours, but reimagined and transformed it by drawing inspiration from the hallucinogenic vibes of that crazy time period.

Available in a limited edition of just 169, the collection goes beyond design – the Cactus in its historic bright green version also appears woven into or printed onto garments and accessories in the Paul Smith AW16 collection that includes shirts, ties, scarves, and socks.
