Offspring – the UK retail store, not the guys who sang ‘Pretty Fly (for a White Guy)’ – recently blew out the candles for their 20th birthday, but instead of using regular icing on its cake to complete the celebration, these guys took it a step further by collaborating with ASICS to release an exclusive rework of ASICS’s Gel-Lyte V.
For its design, Offspring looked to its store’s exterior for inspiration – specifically from the cobble stone streets and Covent Garden’s piazza – hence the beige and nubuck incorporation, which were two contributing elements responsible for the creation of Offspring’s first store. Meanwhile, its lining takes after Offspring’s original colour palette from ’96. The ‘=+’ symbols that are seen on its sock and lace tips are a nod to ASICS and a Japanese symbol that means 20 – a subtle emphasis on the brand’s years of existence.

The Offspring x ASICS Gel-Lyte V ‘Cobble Pack’ will be launching exclusively at Sole What Mid Valley on Saturday 16 July ’16 at 10am. The shoes retail at RM599 (inclusive of GST) and will be available in sizes ranging from US5 to US11 in extremely limited quantity. Contains pigskin material.
