Nike Eugene Track Jacket

We have a few friends by the name of Eugene and none of them have been very athletic. Good thing the Nike Eugene track jacket ain’t named after a person – it’s a place. One of Nike Sportswear’s most heralded pieces, the Eugene track jacket, earned its name from the town of Eugene aka Tracktown USA, the stomping grounds of Bill Bowerman, Steve Prefontaine and the University of Oregon track and field program that have since entered Nike lore. We say ‘pshah!’ to all that, we just dig the jacket – and now its been remixed! Yay!

One of the key pieces in Nike’s Spring/Summer 09 sportswear line, and the original running mate to the Windrunner, the remastered Eugene is still recognisable by its 26-degree chevron, front zips, and collar, cuffs, and waist ribbing. Updates come by way of its 100% recycled polyester exterior and a 100% organic cotton inner layer, so it ain’t just ecologicaly sound its also ecologically soft and comfortable. The Eugene jacket also bears minimal stitching and covered-seams and comes in Orange Blaze, Sport Red and Varsity Purple versions with a popping seasonal palette of Neon Turquoise and our fave, Rave Pink.

Fans of premium Nike gear will fancy the fleece version. This year Nike has partnered with Japanese brand Loopwheeler, who specialise in premium fleece. Sadly this version is unavailable in hot sweaty Malaysia.

The Nike Eugene track jacket is available at all Nike stores. More info at www.Nike.com.
