Melissa ‘Wanna Be Carioca’ SS16 Designer Collaborations
Themed ‘Wanna Be Carioca’, a Brazilian dance that resembles the samba, the Melissa designer collaborations this season will definitely get you on your feet dancing like no one’s watching.
Melissa has once again teamed up with renowned designers like Vivienne Westwood and Jason Wu, as well as newer designers like Alexandre Herchcovitch and Campana Barroca, for a colourful palette that goes from neon pink, yellow, blue, green, and red to the classics of white, black, and brown, using their patented Melflex for compelling shoes meant for all discerning fashionistas.
For London designer Vivienne Westwood, it’s a series of mix romanticism with a pinch of punk and a touch of high fashion evidence. The ‘Vivienne Westwood Anglomania + Melissa Ultragirl XV’ features floral and hearty prints with geometric Orbit logos, whereas the ‘Vivienne Westwood Anglomania + Melissa Scribble Tartan’ answers to the call of punk with the classic plaid print, featuring the iconic element as a base to construct a modern flat that is full of attitude.
The ‘Melissa Campana Barroca’ flats and sandals showcase the clever unity of Baroque Roman art the Campana Brothers are notable for with Melissa’s Brazilian way of life. Elements of florals, angels, and wings are associated with the iron and bronze Italian works of the period, while lizards, insects, and birds make reference to the Brazilian fauna system. Besides that, the texture is also made of fun and novel elements such as barrettes, scissors, screws, sprints, and metallic mesh, integrated into the design to serve as symbols of contemporary art.
The ‘Jason Wu + Melissa Space Love’ series is feminine and comfortable, and will certainly charm the feet of the wearer with its sophisticated and romantic characteristics. Covered in new lace print developed with much elegance, the flat also received the tender treatment of a delicate bow with metal on the top.
Melissa revived its partnership with Brazilian designer Alexandre Herchcovitch after more than 10 years of passionate and successful creations together. This season, the ‘Alexandre Herchcovitch + Flower Queen’ continues to expand from its launch in the last collection, with treatments of primary colours to fill in the delicate flowers on the top, and adding romance in the right measure. On the other hand, the ‘Alexandre Herchcovitch + Harmonic’ flip flops feature 3D patterned flowers on the top, growing the Flower family a little bigger, and seeing them bloom a little brighter.
The Melissa SS16 designer collections are now available at the MDreams stores located at Pavilion KL and One Utama.
