Topshop has been keeping a close eye on designer duo Marta Marques and Paulo Almeida, under their joint namesake label Marques’ Almeida, a young womenswear brand that’s all about the attitude, and none of the hemlines.
After having showcased their works of raw effortlessness for the last two years, and won notable accolades, including the Emerging Talent – Womenswear Award at the British Fashion Awards 2013, a collaborative capsule is called for with Topshop, featuring 68 pieces that stay true to the designers’ identity of perfect ’90s inspired wardrobe.
Themed ‘Youth Code’, the inaugural Marques’ Almeida x Topshop collection pegs on denim as their signature fabric. Seen in deep indigo and bleached out blues and whites, the collection features boxy A-line dresses, straight legged jeans, shorts, skirts, tunic tops, oversized jackets, parkas, as well as bucket hats and rucksacks to complete the frayed and raw effect.
Adding a luxury element to the collection are materials of silk georgette and taffeta in bright palettes on mid length dresses, camisoles, long sleeved blouses, blazers, miniskirts, and wide leg trousers.
Other pieces available in this collaborative collection include ribbed knitwear like turtleneck dresses, soft lamb’s leather of bottoms, and faux fur accessories on oversized colour-pop collars, cuffs, and cross body bags.
The Marques’ Almeida x Topshop AW14 collection will launch officially on Thursday October 9 ’14, and will be available exclusively at the Topshop outlets at KLCC and Mid Valley Mega Mall.
