LACOSTE UNVEILS ZAHA HADID FOOTWEAR COLLECTION
French sports lifestyle apparel heavyweight Lacoste recently launched a very special footwear capsule collection in collaboration with London-based Zaha Hadid Architects in conjunction with their Spring/Summer 2009 collection. The project was unveiled on 15 October 2008 during London’s prestigious Frieze Art Fair. What began as a digitized version of the iconic crocodile logo eventually became Hadid’s foundation upon which they explored a myriad of patterns. To create their unique landscape effect, leather was specially treated and subsequently stretched meticulously ober stainless steel plates where replicated patterns were created thanks to Direct Metal Laser Sintering. This extremely exclusive limited edition range caters to both men and women, with only 1000 pairs to be released to exclusive stores and boutiques come March of 09.
The main collection, with an approximated 10,000 pairs to be released worldwide will retail in May 2009. Keep your eyes peeled for them, who knows, you may just be one of the lucky handful to own a pair.
