The Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso marks its 85th year milestone with an array of festive garments in collaboration with Christian Louboutin.
Coming from two very separate worlds, the two Maisons share the same vision of excellence, founded on the precision and virtuosity of their craftsmanship, along with a taste for fashioning materials, and constant attention to details. This collaboration, with each brand’s respective iconic creations, is also rooted in sharing creative approaches and a sense of openness, harbouring great mutual respect and admiration.
Guided by Louboutin’s boundless imagination, he combines colours and materials with an artist’s instinctive flair, together with the travels that has nurtured his creativity into bright, vibrant, iridescent and shimmering colours. The covered galleries of Paris, the carved wood lattice work of North Africa, the oriental stones from Asia, and not to mention the universe of his shoe collections… each Reverso seen by Louboutin reveals an unexpected aspect of the watch, playing with classical design codes, while respecting its identity.
Available in two sizes, the Reverso Classic Duetto chosen for this transformation retains its emblematic face on the front, with pure, classical Art Deco lines, while the back, framed by two rows of fiamonds on either side of the dial, takes on a delightfully crazy touch infused by Louboutin.
Like the carapace of a scarab beetle, one creation is adorned with an iridescent dial and strap. A subtle evocation of the night lights of Hong Kong shimmering across its bay, the timepiece marvels at the range of green, blue and purple that offers the subtle nuances one could never imagine when the watch is immobile.
One of Louboutin’s creations for Jaegar-LeCoultre is fitted with a transparent plastic strap, reminiscent of the signature transparency on his shoes to flatter the skin while relegating the shoe to a subtle backdrop role. While another features a textured white mother-of-pearl dial, teamed with a strap that hints at the imprint of the iconic Louboutin shoes – an authentic nod to the designer’s core skills.
