These shoes were designed as a homage to Perth’s most iconic cinema house, The Astor, hence the apt name ‘Silverscreen’. The independent cinema opened its doors in 1919 to cater to film enthusiasts’ needs but has since progressed to opening its space to various musical and stage acts since the early ’90s. Gel-Lyte III and Highs & Lows incorporated the building’s exterior paint of soft pastels as the shoe’s base; the outer sole has a marble print which was taken directly from the lobby of the cinema. Wearers would literally be walking with a piece of Australian heritage on their feet.
