Fenty Beauty by Rihanna is the Diverse Makeup Brand We Need
She did it again; the Barbados singer has finally graced our timelines with her latest campaign video for her custom cosmetics collection, Fenty Beauty, which is set to release globally on 8 September ’17. Many are praising Rihanna for the varied forms of beauty in the video that features models of colour like Halima Aden, Slick Woods, Duckie Thot, and more. This is not the first time the star celebrated unconventional beauty, Rih has always been vocal about inclusivity in the industry and worked closely with POC revolutionaries like Pat McGrath for her FENTY x PUMA by Rihanna show at New York Fashion Week in 2016. Naturally, her first line of cosmetics will include everything we already know about Rih, so there are high hopes for Fenty Beauty to change the scene one lipstick at a time.
Watch the video below:
When she’s not posing for cameras at the Met Gala in couture gowns, she’s releasing her own line of products for the die hard Riri fans out there, or just about anybody who has a passion for beauty and fashion like her. The upcoming Fenty Beauty is just another one of Ri’s highly anticipated projects in addition to her past collaborations with Puma and Manolo Blahnik. The only difference is that Fenty Beauty is purely Rihanna’s, and it is as diverse as the star’s personal style.
A major influencer in many aspect, Rihanna has set the scale high for beauty standards, breaking boundaries by opening doors for women of all colour, shapes, and sizes. A Rihanna fan account confirmed with Rih herself that there will be 40 different foundation shades packaged in minimalistic white packaging. The products are also speculated to be cruelty free, a practice we hope will continue in the beauty industry for good.
In addition to foundation shades, Fenty Beauty will offer lip-glosses (as previewed in the video itself), mascaras, and a highlight duo in two rosy bronze-hued shades called Ginger Binge and Moscow Mule. Lighter skinned users can opt for Girl Next Door and Chick Phreak, another coveted highlight duo. That’s not the only flashy item to look out for, as the Instagram page later unveiled a yellow-based gold called Trophy Wife.
