For Charles and Keith, springtime is all about reviving the mood of unforgotten eras that have strongly influenced modern day fashion, before delving into the tale of one’s journey to self-discovery in summer.
The Spring ’16 collection takes on a bolder approach, beginning with a trip down memory lane before ending up with an unexpected juxtaposition between edginess and feminine sweetness. Reworked details are seen on wedge sandals, heels, and mini backpacks with small ruffle details, whereas martial elements and origami folds explore the minimal aesthetics of Asian beauty, as seen on oversized knot sliders, cross strap weave sandals, and tie-knot details on clutch bags.
Nostalgic and historic influences are merged with subculture street aesthetics, as seen on ’70s daywear updated with modern relevance, using the allure of vintage accent detailing on mule loafers, buckle detail clogs, oversized drawstring bags, and keyhole lock wallets in hues of camel, sandstorm, and whisper pink. There are also old video games-inspired emoticon crossbody bags, top handle box bags, and platform sandals in vibrant colours, lace-up tennis sneakers, and smiley plimsolls – a childlike contrast that brings back those memorable childhood memories.
