Burberry Prorsum AW14 collection ‘St Ives bag’
Named after the quaint little Cornish seaside town on the coast of the Celtic Sea, the St Ives from the Burberry Prorsum AW14 collection is inspired by British artists who’ve called St Ives their home, like Alfred Wallis, Ben Nicholson, Christopher Wood, Barbara Hepworth, as well as artists from neighbouring cities and countries like Piet Mondrian, Maurice Sumray and Michael Polat.
Their artwork is presented on the structured bag in various artistic interpretations: hand-painted designs are applied in different colourways and styles, using textured signature grain leather and suede as canvases, and featuring Nicholson’s geometric abstracts and Wood’s figurative florals.
Panels are created from wool and cashmere jacquard blankets, woven with graphic designs, whereas textured pile and flat weave rugs are included to create new and ornate patterns for these one-off designs bags.
Besides that, the St Ives series also feature cityscapes of New York, Los Angeles, London, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Dubai, Seoul and Milan, hand-drawn and laser cut from smooth leather, then carefully layered over a patchwork of coloured suede for a clean and memorable appearance.
The Burberry Prorsum St Ives bags are part of the AW14 collection, and it’s available at all Burberry boutiques nationwide.
