Breitling pays tribute to their great classic of powerful design and self-renewal capability with a limited edition 1,000-piece series, a cut object for devotees of aviation, and the doyenne of all mechanical chronographs worldwide.
The Navitmer 01 is distinguished by its dark grey dial, which features a sunburst brushed finish, subtly offsetting the black counters. The indications are made using the ‘par epargne’ technique against a pure silver backdrop, complementing the steel bracelet, or the leather or crocodile leather straps in various colours.
While the dial side with its famous circular aviation slide rule reflects Breitling’s privileged ties with the aeronautical world, the caseback provides a window into another of the brand’s strongholds; the impressive mastery of the Manufacture Breitling Caliber 01. Officially chronometer-certified by the COSC (Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute), the high performance ‘engine’ is self-winding, with a high frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, more than 70 hours of power reserve, a 1/4th of a second chronograph, and 30-minute and 12-hour totalisers.
