Fully produced and sourced in France, the vegetable leather that is used to make Bleu de Chauffe bags come from local tanneries while the hardware comes from a Parisian maker. With experience in marketing and sales in Adidas and Le Coq Sportif, founder Thierry Batteux met a friend that specialized in luggage at Lancel and LVMH. After becoming good friends, they both decided that it would be nice to work together and so, Bleu de Chauffe was born and named after blue jackets that were worn by French train engineers that used to work on steam engines in the late 19th and early 20th century. The founders put a lot of thought into every design that is inspired by the industrial era and are reinvented in a modern way.
The SS12 collection takes inspiration from the Workwear spirit and is mixed with current urban and contemporary trends; the working tool bag is reworked for everyday use. Bleu de Chauffe’s newest collection also comes with more colourways and new bag styles made out of organic soft leather and mix materials of canvas and leather. The label’s famous Musette bag is also now also available in canvas cotton and backed with contrasting colours and braided with organic tanned leather. This major redesign for the Musette now also comes with 2 brand new styles, the large sized Gavroche and the medium sized Mariole and is also available in 4 colour combinations. Once again, Bleu de Chauffe has continued to create simple, affordable bags without compromising the label’s values of responsibility, ethics and ecological consciousness.
