Barefoot Running with Nike Free

Nike Free Run +3

Ever since the benefits of running barefoot became common knowledge a few years ago, barefoot running has become a worldwide phenomenon. But obviously, you still want to keep your feet protected, and leading the pack on barefoot running shoes is the Nike Free line that started back in 2005. Now it’s back again with the latest editions, the Nike Free 3.0 V4, Nike Free 4.0 and Nike Free Run +3.

These running shoes follow a scaling range, which goes from 0.0 to 10.0 that indicates the level of cushioning in the shoe. The higher the number, the more cushioning there is, so at 0.0, you’re walking barefoot, and if it’s 10.0, it’s the same as wearing a traditional running shoe.

The Nike Free 3.0 V4 is by far the closest Nike has come to delivering a truly barefoot experience in a shoe – featuring molded sock-liner that mimics the curvature of the foot to provide a great fit, and enhance comfort and support. But if the 3.0 is too bare for you, you can try the Nike Free 4.0. It still features lightweight support, but with increased stability.

Our favourite though, is the Nike Free Run +3. Being Nike+ ready, you can track your routes and running time, and then later go online to rub your record in other people’s faces. You also get to join groups who run together, or be part of team Malaysia and see if you can stick it to the runners of team Singapore.
