This Fall/Winter season marks Adidas Originals’ strongest women’s collection to date. Brit zeitgeist-making fashion label PPQ partners with the trefoil brand. Founded in East London in 1992 by Amy Molyneaux and Percy Parker, PPQ are to blame for the skinny jeans trend that shapeshifted 90s silhouettes. They spearheaded the drainpipe jean revolution when they dressed music makers including Peter Doherty and their signature smock dresses and cocktail gowns or some of the hottest fashion properties including Agyness Deyn, Rihanna, Amy Winehouse, Lily Allen, Daisy Lowe, Alexa Chung, Adele, Peaches and Pixie Geldof and Little Boots to name but a few.
The marriage of music and style isn’t just an accidental one. PPQ run record label, 1-2-3-4 Records. It has acts including Whitey and The Bishops on its roster and holds down an annual festival in Shoreditch that’s been talked up. The adidas Originals x PPQ hook up should put women’s street style firmly into focus. Although PPQ drops its characteristic spectrum of vivid colours and bold printers, strong shapes remain. The capsule collection merges PPQ’s quintessential British fashion sense and use sophisticated cut lines and materials with footwear and apparel styles from the groundbreaking Adidas Originals Sleek collection. It hits Adidas Originals stores and selected fashion retailers in November.
