adidas Originals for Women reinvents the sneaker

After coverage of the adidas Originals Spring Summer 2009 collection launch in Milan in our November 2008 issue and adidas’ celebratory 9-page House Party fashion spread in our December 2008Â issue, the Malaysian launch of the aO SS09 collection is imminent this coming February and it’s looking like a shoe-in.
Paying tribute to the 60th anniversary of Adi Dassler’s unmistakable 3-Stripes mark registration, among the highlights is a comprehensive Women’s range with mix-and-match styles comprising a some seriously fresh footwear and apparel.
For the first time Originals Women’s moves away from its traditional sneaker designs, instead reinventing the legendary Super Star, Gazelle and Stan Smith into styles like never before! The successful “Sleek” collection for Women’s further develops adidas’ continued successful fusion of street wear edge and classic elegance, offering a reinterpretation of iconic sneakers into women’s relevant silhouettes.
The hottest topic around the JUICE water cooler is the peep-toe version of the classic Stan Smith. The legendary tennis shoe has been reinvented to become a peep-toe slip-on and takes inspiration from the iconic men’s sneaker with its use of white and green colour combination, although a metallic purple execution has also set our crooked tongues waging.
The Super Star may best be remembered for its chunky soles, but for the women’s range adidas has given it a slim heel makeover. Using the authentic details of the three stripes, the execution is sleek enough to go from day to night and is available in black, white and silver.
Iconic training sneaker, the Gazelle joins the Super Star to become the first Ballerina footwear silhouette in the collection. The Gazelle Ballerina is available in red, black and blue with the Super Star Ballerina available in the seasonal trends of metallic silver and violet.
