Miss Selfridge may have started late on the rock chic trend, but they make up for it with a well rounded Autumn/Winter 2009 collection of amazing silhouettes, some gorgeous draping work and lots of detailing and embellishment. Glam or grunge, distressed or embellished, knitwear or tie-dye, it takes inspiration from the unlikeliest of places – classic sci-fi movies like Dune and Mad Max – key colours like silver, bronze, gunmetal and burnt gold are paired up with taupe, grey and black, with petrol tones, emerald, purple, hot pink and cobalt blue inject a flash of excitement to it all. Dramatic shoulders, body con dresses and high-waisted minis finish off the glamorous rock look.
