Interview: Azmyl Yunor
Folk rocker and lecturer, Azmyl Yunor has been singing and gigging for the last decade to audiences and to himself in his room. He likes answering boneheaded questions for leisure which keeps him sane while taking breaks between recording his upcoming albums Warga and Azmyl Yunor & The Sigarettes and skivving during office hours.
When was the last time you bought a CD?
Last weekend, I bought the Terbaik compilation by Search for RM12.90 at Speedy.
When was the last time you used a public payphone?
Right after I kicked it, a week ago.
When was the last time you performed in front of an attentive audience?
At my last gig…wait, no, actually when I gave my lecture today.
When was the last time you made a paper airplane?
When I got last month’s pay-slip.
When was the last time someone recognised you on the street?
Last month, wasn’t on the street, but in a mall. I was buying a cup of coffee.
What was the last disturbing thing you witnessed?
Someone’s overflowing plate at a Ramadhan buffet last week.
When was the last time you thought about death?
While reading this question.
When was the last time you made someone laugh?
A couple hours ago while lecturing about media ownership and control in Malaysia. I had everyone in stitches.
When was the last time you said you were Malaysian?
When I tried to buy a beverage at a Kedai Ubat Cina.
When was the last time you had to queue up?
At the Sungai Besi toll plaza on the way back home today, after someone without a Smart Tag went into the Smart Tag lane and had to reverse out. I was in my car, obviously.
When was the last time you asked for an autograph?
The last time I sold a copy of my Tenets EP at my last gig. No, wait, when I had to sign my student’s MC slip 3 days ago.
What is the last thing you think about at night?

When was the last time you wore black?
Right now.
