Vault by Vans x WTAPS ‘Original Classics’ Collection

There are only a few occasions when snakes are acceptable – when designers use the wild animal as its muse for their collections (although items made using snakeskin are far from being acceptable) and when it devours an egoistic megalomaniac who’s willing to sacrifice his colleagues while being on a hunt for blood orchids. We’re still mourning over Morris Chestnut’s undeserving death. Our emotions aside, Vans and WTAPS are frequent collaborators; both brands have churned out three collections since 2006. This year, Vans celebrates its 50th anniversary while WTAPS are hitting its two-century mark. To celebrate these milestones, both brands returned to the drawing board to release another collection entitled ‘Original Classics’.
The 2016 project sees a reuse of WTAPS’ signature bones emblem on its OG Sk8-Hi LX, OG Chukka Boot LX, and OG Authentic LX silhouettes whereas Vans’ classic slip-ons received an Anaconda-inspired embossed leather treatment in all-white, black, and blue colourways. To complete the collection, Vans and WTAPS ventured further than footwear by designing a military-inspired jacket that has “Vans #1 Waffle Lovers Club” stitched on its back, complemented with WTAPS’ bones all around it.

The Anaconda-inspired collection (Vans Classic Slip-Ons) will be available on Saturday 27 August ’16 while the Bones styles (products with bones on them) will be available on Saturday 10 September ’16 at Sole What and Crossover.
