#HANGERLoveatFirstStride : Burberry Womenswear ‘A Patchwork’ Collection
Burberry took to the runway during this season’s London Fashion Week with their womenswear collection entitled ‘A Patchwork’, which features a mix of patterns and textures influenced by British artists, musicians, and history.
The personalised collection introduces the latest additions to Burberry’s accessories series; The Patchwork and The Buckle Boot. The Patchwork bags are inspired by the belt buckle from the brand’s iconic trenchcoat, and each of the one-of-a-kind bags is individually designed and named, showcasing a variety of colours, textures, fabrics, and embellishments such as the polished buckle. The bags can be worn as a shoulder or crossbody, or carried as a clutch.
The Buckle Boot, on the other hand, is inspired by the distinctive patchwork details seen throughout the collection. It takes after the classic Wellington boots, coming in snakeskin and rubberised leather with a raised heel and accentuated tread.
The womenswear collection features colours of parade red, sapphire blue, military green, mustard, powder blue, metallic teal, and regimental navy upon silhouettes of cashmere military coats, field jackets, regimental jackets, cape jackets, cape coats, patchwork skirted dresses, pleated dresses, panelled T-shirt dresses, flared officer trousers, and cropped military trousers. Other notable textures and fabrics are geometric jacquards, metallic floral, brushed wool mohair checks, military Melton, and handworked fil coupé silk, all coming together to make up the collection in techniques of double-faced fabrics, leather buffing with stone for a high-shine finish, handmade appliqué, and bugle bead embroidery.
