At 93 years old, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is the oldest Prime Minister in the world—and he’s still as sharp as ever!

Whenever he’s asked about the secret to his health, Tun M attributes it to his diet. A true lover of our local food, it’s not that Tun M doesn’t indulge in tasty (and sometimes unhealthy) Malaysian treats, but he is disciplined to know when to stop eating.

I don’t smoke, I don’t drink, I don’t overeat. I eat just enough food to keep me going. – Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad

Tun M and Siti Hasmah’s good health and diet has always been heavily discussed and dissected by the public.

Remember when this photo of the couple went viral last year because of how little rice was on Tun M’s plate?

So, is the secret to the Prime Minister’s youthful appearance and good health in the food he eats?

According to a recent story from eNanyang, it may just be! The local news site has reported on a menu that was obtained at an official dinner, which was attended by Mahathir.

Based on government protocol, the menu would have been provided by the PM’s department or personal chef, thus netizens are concluding that the food holds the secret to Tun M’s long life and health.

Meanwhile, it has been reported in other sources that Mahathir doesn’t eat fish due to influence from his mum, Siti Hasmah tends to stay away from lala and sotong, and dragon fruit is strictly off the menu

The PM’s personal chef of three years says that although Mahathir doesn’t fancy fish, he’s ok with ikan bilis.

With drinks and desserts specifically left unsweetened, it looks like mineral water is the drink of choice for Mahathir

It’s no secret that drinking water is imperative to your health, and based on the official menu, it looks like Mahathir may be living proof of that. The specific choice of Spritzer could be because Tun M is a big supporter of local brands too, and it looks like he may favour the iconic green bottles over others.

Spritzer Natural Mineral Water is rich in minerals and contains silica, which has anti-aging effects that will help you stay young and have glowing skin.

And of course, Tun M has consistently said that the key to his long life has been to stay active and sleep less

We’re pretty sure a great sense of humour and lots of love play an important role to good health too!
