adidas Originals Blue Denim Collection SS11

Adidas Originals fans will know that the trefoil brand already has a denim line, a collabo with Italian brand Diesel. Unfortch that line never made it to Malaysia due to restrictions on the use of the brand name Diesel which was already registered here. Boo! But that was then because adidas Originals has introduced its first in-house denim line. It all went down last Friday at the adidas Original concept store in Lot 10, in a whir of bright blue cocktails, killer trews and one heck of a funky fresh crowd.

Formerly known as the Blue Label Collection Originals A.039, the adidas Originals Blue Collection is part of the brand’s Spring/Summer 2011 offerings. The launch attracted plenty of adidas Originals fanboys and girls who outdid each other with their adidas Originals sneaks – there were more than a few adidas ObyO Jeremy Scott sneaks spotted.

Outside the Jalan Sultan Ismail traffic crawled past distracted by the action which was streamed Live on the YES cubes on Lot 10’s pedestrian area. That action included Reza Salleh’s live acoustic performance, beat boxer Shawn Lee and photog Vincent Paul Yong, who busily snapped away at in what could be Malaysia’s first live fashion shoot.

Also getting it on (the tagline for the new line of jeans) was emcee Megan Tan who was spotted in nifty pair. Offering two styles for both men and women in a variety of washings, what makes these denim cuts special is that they have been designed to be wearable with a pair of sneakers – you can turn the hem up and the blue won’t rub off on your shoes – absolutely key for those of you that love white shoes! Fusing the heritage of authentic denim with modern fits, the details on the adidas Originals Blue Denim range really make the jeans, while the washes are inspired from natural friction, damaging and research on denim by Japanese experts in washing and sewing.

In terms of cuts, for men there is the classic relaxed fit called the Conductor and Rekord, a modern slim carrot fit. For women, the skinny fit Cupie has a sleek fashion fit, while the Winneta bears an edgy but more comfortable boyfriend cut (check the pix below – men’s cuts are on top, women’s on the bottom). Prices for the denim range from RM 290 to RM470. In addition the range also includes bags including a reversible canvas and nylon tote bags and multifunctional backpacks next to premium leather Weekender and Computer Bags.

The new in-house denim range is currently exclusively available at the adidas Originals Concept Store in Lot 10, KL. Starting March 15, the denim collection will then be made available nationwide through the adidas Originals concept stores in Pavilion and KLCC, One Borneo and Centre Point in East Malaysia, and at Tangs Pavilion KL and Empire Mall Subang Jaya.
