It was an unforgettable evening for more than 2,000 Penangites were treated to one hell of a clubbing experience with performances from an eclectic mix of local and international acts for the first H-Artistry – The Global Art of Mixing this year.

The event was held on the island at SPICE Arena where artists from Australia, Taiwan and Malaysia had revellers turned up thanks to a generous dose of pop, EDM, and electro house tunes. Hosted by Julie Woon, H-Artistry proved successful and spectacular as Paperplane Pursuit, DJ Brooklyn, DJ Ernest C, DJ Reeve, Magic Power and Imma*Bleep*Youup kept energy and excitement running high throughout the night, delivering nothing short of an amazing clubbing experience.

The main party arena where all the magic happened featured an amazingly adorned space decked out in red and black hues and a remarkable stage set-up with towering H-Artistry LED backdrops. Malaysian pop sensation Paperplane Pursuit (PPP) led the crowd with hits like ‘Everybody Wants Somebody’ and ‘Higher’. We were especially thrilled when H-Project DJs joined the electro pop trio for ‘Beats of Your Love’, a wonderful product of a fearsome collaboration. The H-Project DJs who were revealed to be DJ Ernest C and DJ Reeve followed PPP’s performances with a wonderful, pumped up set that we certainly thought had party goers shakin’ and screamin’ in delight.

Taiwan’s Mandopop group Magic Power played hit jams like ‘Never Play By The Rules’ and covered sing-along classics like Eminem’s ‘Love The Way You Lie’ with PPP, firing up the venue with tracks that we certainly thought were befitting of the animated and exuberant atmosphere. Australia’s DJ Brooklyn had the whole arena running wild, bringing the vibe to a climax when she took control of the turntables, dropping dope beats that were more than clubbing-friendly. Electro house trio Imma*Bleep*Youup brought the house down after that, topping off the night with turned up EDM tunes accompanied by mesmerising laser projections.

H-Artistry Penang 2014 was a definite hit as we were taken on a journey of musical artistry. If this is any indication of what’s to come from the H-Artistry series, we’re surely keeping our eyes peeled for more.
